Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and empathetic Housing Solutions Officer to join our team in London. In this vital role, you will work directly with individuals and families facing homelessness or housing difficulties, offering tailored advice, support, and legal interventions in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. You will play a key role in assessing housing needs, preventing homelessness, and helping service users find sustainable housing solutions.
Conduct assessments of housing needs under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended)
Develop and implement Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs) for applicants at risk of homelessness
Offer advice and assistance on housing options, including private renting, supported housing, and social housing
Work closely with internal departments, landlords, and external agencies to prevent and relieve homelessness
Manage a caseload of clients and ensure legal deadlines and statutory obligations are met
Issue relevant legal notifications and decisions, including s184 and s198 notifications
Provide support and advocacy to vulnerable individuals including those with mental health, substance misuse, or safeguarding needs
Record all casework accurately using housing management systems (e.g. Jigsaw, Locata)
Keep up to date with housing legislation, welfare reform, and best practice in homelessness prevention.

Requirements
- Experience in a housing advice, homelessness prevention, or housing solutions role
- Strong understanding of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Housing Act 1996, and relevant guidance
- Excellent case management, communication, and advocacy skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage complex caseloads to statutory deadlines
- Strong IT skills, particularly in using housing systems such as Locata, Jigsaw, or Home Connections
- Ability to work sensitively with vulnerable and diverse client groups
