Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and reliable HWRC Operative (Grade 03) to join our team at a Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) in London. In this role, you will assist in the safe and efficient operation of the site, helping residents dispose of their waste and recycling correctly while ensuring the site is maintained to high standards.
Assist members of the public in the correct disposal of waste and recycling materials
Ensure all waste is handled safely and in accordance with environmental and health & safety regulations
Operate machinery and equipment as required (training will be provided)
Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the site, including clearing litter and managing recycling areas
Monitor and control access to the site to ensure safety and compliance
Provide excellent customer service and respond to queries or direct users to appropriate resources
Report any incidents, hazards, or equipment faults to the supervisor promptly
Work as part of a team to maintain smooth site operations and meet performance targets.

Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role or in waste management is desirable but not essential
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks, including lifting and bending
- A responsible approach to health and safety, with the ability to follow procedures accurately
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays if required
