Job Description

We are seeking a proactive, organised, and community-focused Housing Officer to join our housing management team in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of properties, supporting tenants, ensuring tenancy compliance, and maintaining safe and sustainable neighbourhoods. This is a vital role for someone passionate about social housing, community support, and tenant welfare.

Manage a designated patch of housing stock, including general needs, supported housing, and temporary accommodation
Act as the first point of contact for tenants regarding tenancy issues, repairs, rent arrears, anti-social behaviour, and general enquiries
Conduct regular estate inspections and tenancy audits to ensure compliance and identify any issues
Work with external agencies, local authorities, and support services to address tenant needs and promote tenancy sustainability
Investigate and manage reports of anti-social behaviour in line with policy and procedures
Enforce tenancy conditions, including serving notices and preparing legal documentation where necessary
Maintain accurate records of interactions, inspections, and casework using internal housing management systems
Support new tenants during the sign-up process and throughout the tenancy lifecycle
Contribute to resident engagement activities and promote community cohesion

Requirements

  • Proven experience in housing management or a similar role within a local authority, housing association, or charitable organisation
  • Strong understanding of tenancy law, housing regulations, and welfare reform
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload effectively
  • Strong IT skills and experience using housing management systems (e.g., Orchard, Northgate, Civica)
  • A proactive and problem-solving mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
