Job Description

The Finance & Accountancy Officer is responsible for supporting the organization's financial management by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, managing accounts, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and contributing to effective budgeting and financial planning.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate accounting records and financial transactions in accordance with accounting standards and organizational policies.
Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Prepare bank reconciliations and reconcile general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Support the preparation, monitoring, and control of departmental and organizational budgets.
Process payroll and ensure statutory deductions and payments are made accurately and on time, where applicable.
Prepare financial reports for management, donors, auditors, and regulatory authorities as required.
Monitor cash flow and maintain accurate cashbook records.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements, and internal control procedures.
Assist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting documentation and responding to audit queries.
Maintain fixed asset registers and monitor asset acquisitions and disposals.
Identify financial risks and recommend improvements to financial systems and controls.
Support procurement and payment processes in line with organizational policies.
Perform other finance and administrative duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent) or progress towards certification is desirable.
Minimum of 2–5 years' experience in finance or accounting, depending on organizational requirements.
Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent analytical and numerical abilities.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
Timely processing of payments and receipts.
Compliance with financial policies and statutory requirements.
Successful completion of audits with minimal findings.
Budget monitoring and variance reporting.
Effective maintenance of accounting records and financial documentation.
